@Daris: This TV has one of the best anti-glare filters. That is, except LCD TVs with matte screens (from Sony), it performs at least as well (if not better) as LCDs. That being said, it won't do wonders. Unless those light spots are very powerful, they will probably not be distracting. And if they are, they will be with any TV. If you want to get a TV that has better anti-glare though, look at Sony LCD TV models that have matte screens.

@Rae: TH42PX600U is an old model (from 2007 I believe). Panasonic bought a lot of improvements to their models over the past years, so I am pretty sure you will find TC-P50V10 to be a great replacement/upgrade. It is after all, the best plasma TV on the market.

I'm considering purchasing the TC-P50V10 but I am concerned with glare. The tv would be mounted above our fireplace in a room with windows (we have blinds we would close) and nine can lights. As the viewing area is beneath the tv and the can lights are above both I am concerned there will be a reflection of the can lights on the tv screen based on the viewing angle. We would watch movies and shows on this tv but mostly sports. Do you think this tv would be the appropriate purchase or that we should buy an LED instead based on the previously mentioned glare issue?

Hello all,

I currently have a Panasonic TH42PX600U which received very high rating from an online plasma reviewer. I would like to upgrade to a 50" and am considering the 50V10. Is it up to par with the 42PX600 as far as video quality? thanks!

@Dicky: Naturally it is not normal to have those lines. It is more likely that the cause is the signal from Foxtel and/or the cables. Unless those lines appear when you watch DVD or Blu-Ray as well, it is probably from Foxtel. I recommend you call Foxtel instead of Panasonic and if you don't have a DVD/Blu-Ray player borrow one from a friend and see if you still get the lines.

After reading the reviews on this site as well as others, I was tempted enough to go out & purchase this plasma at the weekend. Love the sleek design, love the size & slimness of the TV.
We are watching the TV through our Foxtel (Australian cable) cable and the picture is still great, however now & again, we notice very faint white lines moving up & down the screen, which are really annoying once you notice them. They seem to appear worse when the screen goes very dark (obvioulsy white on black) however I was wondering if this is common on these TVs or if it is because we are watching via Foxtel???? Please help, as I am unsure whether to phone Panasonic and get them to come & check it out... we love the TV but these lines are so annoying and not what you expect when you pay so much money...
Cheers, Dicky

@Simba B: Panasonic TC-P50V10 and generally Panasonic models are not the best when it comes to SDTV video processing. Samsung and LG generally have superior standard definition performance. In this size class I recommend as an alternative Samsung PN50B860.

I read here and somewhere else that less accurate primary and secondary colors in non-THX modes as well as not so good picture quality with standard definition content. I am in India now and the HD channels are not here yet. How does standard content quality compare to other similar line LCD or LEDs?

Thanks

I am very satisfied with this TV. I based my decision of buying the TC-P50V10 based on the top on this site and I have no regrets. I was also considering the Pioneer Kuro and though I don't know which one looks better side by side - the kuro or the V10 - I doubt the difference is big.

My Samsung BD 3600 Blu-ray player does not seem to allow me to use the 96Hz option. I wish I had known this before I bought the player. I may try to return it.
Is anyone else irritated that the set tilts backward when using the supplied pedestal? It actually collects more dust at the bottom of the screen.
